Barbican Lady was owned by a very fastidious gentleman who paid particular attention to every minor detail, he spent around four years in his factory fitting her out. All the woodwork was rubbed down meticulously and varnished to a very high standard, the bilges were painted with epoxy.
As a professional engineer and boat owner for the previous 25 years he carried out the engine and electrical installation to a very high standard. The boat would be transported from his factory to the water each May and then returned each October. The yacht was kept in the factory every winter under cover where whatever works were necessary were carried out. It is estimated that the yacht has been afloat for around 7 years of her life.
The owner derived as much pleasure out of maintaining as sailing her.
Barbican Lady has sailed the Westcountry and the Channel Islands. The recommended 4" diameter mast was replaced by the owner for 5". Before the keel ballast was fitted the owner has 3 extra layers of glass added, 1st inside the keel housing to the turn of the bilge, 2nd inside of the keel housing the the waterline & 3rd inside of the keel housing the deck.
